Brilliant Mariner 2006

Exercise Brilliant Mariner 2006, a major NATO exercise to provide Combat Readiness and certification training for the Maritime forces of the NATO Responce Force will take place in the waters between the Dutch and Scandinavian coast.
The concept of the NATO Responce force (NRF)is to provide a fully joint land , sea and air force to operate in a crisis response situation.

The exercise has been designed to provide training in many of the NRF tasts in witch maritime forces play a major part, inc. humanitarian relief,
embargo operations. Most of the navy ships visited the Netherlands before the exercise In Den Helder the biggest part and in Amsterdam
the Principe de Asturias (R11) this carrier wasn't able to go to the Den helder port becasue of its depth 9,5M.
The Command ship during this exercise is the SPS Castilla L-52.

The weekend before the exercise started i was able to visit Den Helder Naval base and the Principe de Asturias
in Amsterdam.
